What is the Historical Jesus?

Much has been written on the scholary level regarding the historical Jesus. Basically this is research involving diesecting the Bible mostly the NT gospels. The goal is to seperate the myths and the facts and look at who Jesus really was, what he did and did not say, and how Christianity started.

This type of study is roughly about a hundred years old however did not really become popular or make it to the masses until the 1980s. There are many different groups and scholars who have contributed several opinions regarding the historical Jesus and Christianity. While there is much disagreement in these areas, there is mutual respect for all concerned because they tried to remain faithful in seperating the myths from facts.

Some maintain that all or most of the gospels is fabrication, others maintain there are some facts and truths in there but much has been added later, the myths. It's important to understand that researching the Historical Jesus is done to find the truth only, not to take away any thing or introduce a new doctrine. Scholars involved in this quest treat the scriptures in a scientific manor and do not let their personal feelings interfer. Opinions even change as new discovers are made!

Welcome!

I decided to create this blog for some forum topics I want to start. The first will be about the Historical Jesus.
